Ultrasonic Cutting of PP/HDPE Woven Fabric
How Does Ultrasonic Cutting Improve PP and HDPE Woven Fabric?
Ultrasonic cutting and sealing can cut and seal PP/HDPE woven fabric while helping reduce burr formation and tape fraying. This makes the technology useful for manufacturing applications where clean edges are important.

The Problem with Conventional Heat Cutting
In woven fabric production, conventional heat cutters can create blackish burrs along the cut edge. Removing these burrs can also cause the woven tapes to fray.
This becomes a major concern when producing FIBC and jumbo bags for demanding industries such as food, chemical, and pharmaceutical packaging.
The Ultrasonic Solution
An ultrasonic cut and seal system uses controlled ultrasonic energy to cut and seal the fabric edge during the same operation.
For one application, six 1000 W / 36 kHz ultrasonic cutting and sealing systems were integrated with circular looms. The systems could be positioned at the centre or sides of the loom, depending on the required cutting configuration.
The solution was designed for PP/HDPE woven fabric in the 80–270 GSM range.
Key Benefits
- Clean and controlled cutting
- Edge sealing during cutting
- Reduced burr-related issues
- Helps minimize tape fraying
- Suitable for continuous woven-fabric production
- Can be integrated with circular looms
- Flexible centre or side cutting configuration
